If a person is feeding his frog with grasshoppers, flies, moths or worms then he will have a healthy frog. Five to six items are required in every two days to the frog. Red eyed frogs often like live insects like wax worms or silk worms which can also be used as a supplement to crickets. The frog also loves eating fruit flies, curly flies, home flies and spiders. They also require fresh water. Make sure you keep a dish with shallow water near it every time. The water should be chlorine free.
Although you take a very good care of your pet but there are some diseases to which frogs are very prone to. The red eye tree frog falls ill mainly due to malnutrition, skin irritation, fungal and bacterial infections etc. If the frog seems to be lethargic, then it may be because of the lack of nutrients and supplements. Make sure you sprinkle a supplement powder on crickets before feeding them to frog. If the problem persists and you see any bloating then it could be a serious health issue. In that case you need to contact the veterinarian.
It is better to prevent the illness of frog before it establish. There are some precautions that one can take in order to prevent the disease. It is important to keep the environment neat and clean. This would help in maintaining the health of the frog. Plenty of fresh shallow water should always be present near the frog. The frog will absorb water through its skin.

Red eyed tree frog- Unique creature to be kept as pet


Today is the time when people love to possess the pets other then dogs, cats etc. many people are fond of having different types of frogs as their pets. There are numerous species of frogs that are unique and can be seen in the houses of many people.
Out of all the species of frogs the red eyed tree frog is the one that is well accepted by the populace. These frogs are very colorful and different from others. It is an attractive variety to be kept as pets. This species possess some of the brightest colors which are the main reason that makes the people to own these frogs.
Red eye frogs have dazzling green colored body, with a smooth white abdomen. They contain big eyes which are red in color with perpendicular split pupils. Also the body of the frog includes colorful strips. The motifs and colors of the strips vary according to the region where they live. But usually the strips are yellow and blue. The size of female red eyed frog is slightly larger than the male frog.  The length of a male frog varies between 2 to 2 ½ inches and the length of females varies between 2 ½ to 3 inches. Many people install a low heat lighting arrangements, or other minor heaters in the tank to create the natural surroundings.
